Eligibility

During the pandemic the national vaccination programme gave everyone access to a Covid vaccine but that is no longer the case.

Who can get vaccinated for free?

The vaccine should be given on the NHS to adults aged 75 years and over, care home residents and anyone aged six months or over who is immunosuppressed.

If you do not qualify?

Millions of people across the country do not qualify for a Covid vaccination (whether first or booster jabs) on the NHS but up until now, there has been no private vaccination service.

However, things are about to change and we can now offer protection via a private Covid vaccination service.

The service will initially include the two Covid vaccines currently licensed for private use, from Pfizer/BioNTech and from Novavax.

Pricing varies slightly for the difference brands of Covid vaccines. Pfizer we can offer at £75 and Novavax from £60 (dependent on having five patients booked for that day).

About the Private Covid Vaccination Service.

Who is this service for?

The service is available to patients aged 12 years and above. Like all other private vaccination services, you will undergo a face-to-face consultation with a pharmacist to ensure it is clinically appropriate for you to receive a Covid vaccine. If it is, your pharmacist will be able to administer the vaccine.

Why use this service?

If you do not qualify for a Covid jab on the NHS but would like to have a vaccine, you can access private Covid vaccination services at the pharmacy and protect yourself against the virus.

When will it be available?

We have been offering a private Covid Vaccination Service since April 2024 and will continue to do so where demand continues and vaccine availability.

Where can I access the service?

We offer this private Covid vaccination service directly from the pharmacy (Bucksburn Pharmacy & Health Clinic), located on Inverurie Road in Bucksburn, Aberdeen.

How much does it cost?

Prices for the two different brands of Covid vaccines vary. Pfizer is charged at £75 whereas Novavax is from £60. The downwide with Novavax is that they come in five dose vials, therefore we need to have five patients booked in for that day as the vials only last 12 hours from when first opened. Note that Pfizer vaccines come in single dose vials, therefore we can offer this most days.
